BIRD MUMMY

BIRD MUMMY
The mummy of a falcon, possibly a kestrel or an Egyptian Kite, it still bears traces of gilding. The bird is wrapped but the head and shoulders are exposed and some feathers are visible.
Part of the collection of the Castle Museum, Norwich, purchased by Liverpool in 1956. The mummy was originally given to Norwich as a gift from J.H. Walters in 1867.
